Dispatches : Patagonia, Argentina

When I first picked up a camera over a decade a ago, I did so to capture the moments in my life that I thought noteworthy. More often than not, these moments revolved around my active pursuits, such as rock climbing, mountain biking, hiking and paddling. It should therefore come as no surprise that adventure photography also became my first professional interest in the medium as well.

Although my professional foray into adventure photography was short lived, I have always carried a ton of passion for it and still look to capture those moments whenever I am given the opportunity.

A week ago, I returned from one such adventure that took me to the South American province of Rio Negro, better known as Patagonia, Argentina. It’s a land of beautiful clear rivers, dense forests, rugged mountains terrain and some of the friendliest people you will ever encounter.

For this trip, I packed a very limited amount of camera equipment, my AM mountain bike and enough clothing to get me through 10 days of riding in one of the most beautiful places on Earth. Below are a few of the snaps from this trip… I will be returning!

Rockin’ The Dress in Jamaica!

Normally, I post my Rock The Dress sessions after I have hooked my readers with succulent images from the wedding day, but this time I simply couldn’t resist posting things a little early!

As you may have gathered from my last post, I was at the Gran Bahia Principe in Jamaica this past week with Michelle & Ryan as they took the plunge into married life. I suppose that these images are a bit of a visual interpretation of just that!

On a technical note, for the”Plunge” image, we only had one chance and one shutter press to get it right. All of the lighting was set up and tested just before walking the couple to the edge and counting down! The entire process took maybe 10 minuites, as the light was falling very quickly.

Hello from Jamaica Mon!

It’s always fun heading somewhere exotic to shoot, and doing so with good friends at your side is just the icing on the cake.

This week I am in Jamaica at the Gran Bahia Resort (Runaway Bay)  photographing my good friend Ryan as he ties the knot with his beau Michelle. I worked with Ryan for a number of years when I was a graphic designer, and was excited when I was invited to play the role of guest / photographer at the wedding!

I will be editing the photos from the wedding over the next few days, so stay tuned. In the meantime, I will post a pretty cool photo from the other night – a view from my hotel room, with Hurricane Rita in the background!

Aneesh & Dave ~ An Eglington Grand Wedding!

If you are going to have a grand wedding, you may as well make it an Eglington Grand wedding!

When my good friend Dave (of Dave & Charlotte Photographers – link) asked if I could help him out by shooting portraits and the wedding reception of a cool Indian couple at one of Toronto’s landmark wedding venues, I really couldn’t help but say “yes!”.  Aneesh & Dave were wonderful to work with – very laid back and easy to direct, which made capturing great photos that much easier. Just a wonderful day for all!

The photos below are just a sample of whats to come. Please check out Dave & Charlottes website for the full wedding, which will be posted in a  few weeks time.

Thank you so much for having me at your event!

Lisa & Johan ~ A Little Bit Of Magic.

Sometimes things are just right.

The light falls at precisely the right angle.
The humidity in the air creates an airy softness.
You have an amazing & fun loving couple to work with.
The creativity is spontaneous.

Last nights shoot was made of magic.

I first photographed Lisa & Johan in the middle of the winter last year. They loved their photos sooooo much, that they requested to do another shoot in the summer, so that they could have a variety of imagery to  cherish and share.

As you can tell, I am very happy with the photos!
